Down Goes Stanley

A tough sport requires a tough trophy. The Stanley Cup proved its mettle when it bounced up after taking a hard shot in Newfoundland yesterday. Stanley easily shook off the tumble and reportedly said, "it was nothing compared to the shot Teemu Selanne and his Ducktards laid on me back in 2007."

Every championship player gets his day with the Stanley Cup and Michael Ryder's probably could have started better.

The former Boston Bruins forward was carrying the Cup and placed it on a table outside a St. John's, Newfoundland, hotel as he prepared for a helicopter ride to his hometown in Bonavista, according to the Associated Press. But as he let go of the trophy, the table tipped over, sending the Cup to the ground.
