The Rangers continued their drive for a playoff spot with a third period outburst that produced a 4-1 win over Florida and a tie for 8th place with the Flyers. They are now 5-0-1 in their last six and seven of those eleven points are against teams lower then them in the standings.
So now this imperfect team that has dogged it, tanked it and mailed it in most of the season is on the brink of a playoff berth. Wow! Even last night, they could only put together one good period of hockey. So who is excited? Certainly not the fans who have to shell out big bucks to see the most inferior of products. The suits are very happy. A couple of home games will bring in a few million bucks and ensure the careers of the Stealth GM and his surly coach.
Let the mediocrity continue but let us remember this most holiest of seasons to spend with our families.
Happy Passover and Happy Easter!

Rangers Are Risen

I, for one, am not convinced that this team has what it takes to get 88 or 89 points. I would love for them to prove me wrong.
You've got to wonder if Lunqvist will hold up. They have been riding him hard and he's played great. Most would be hard pressed to name the back-up goalie. The Sabres will be a make or break game.
Section 335-They need to take three out of four. Its up to Lundqvist.
Wes-They could lose to the Sabres and come back to sweep the next three.
Mike,
I agree, with one qualifier. The Rangers have 82 points. If they win 3, and get 88 points, they will do it - as long as they do not win both games against the Flyers in OT. They must keep the Flyers to 87.
The Boston-Washington game tonight is huge. If Boston loses, the Rangers need only get even with Boston.
More to the point, if Boston were to lose, and the Rangers could pass them and the Flyers, they would play the Devils in round one.
That would be sweet.
Section 335-Boston is collapsing worse than the Flyers. Playing the Devils would get me excited again.
