Michael Kay of ESPN radio was discussing today how pro athletes get paid serious money to show up at ceremonies and sporting events. For example, Michael Strahan was reportedly paid $75,000 for his cameo at last night's NY Giants home opener. And the Mets are paying Tom Seaver between $200,000 and $250,000 to show up at an upcoming ceremony. Even old timers get paid to show up at an "Old Timers" baseball game. So this note about Eric Lindros not showing up at a Philadelphia Flyers preseason ceremony, says a lot:
One side note today, as it somehow seems fitting that Eric Lindros won't be able to make it to the Flyers' preseason ceremony that will celebrate the history of the Spectrum. Lindros explained to the Philly Inquirer that he will be attending a memorial service.
